Nature of Celebration

 I have finally understood the nature of celebration. 

 I considered an army getting drunk to celebrate a victory. Someone would have to take care of the army while they're impaired. Basically, a second army. And there it is: celebration is doing something that isn't worthwhile, such as drinking to excess, but having someone else clean up after you. Offloading the costs, so as to reap the benefits. This means kings or popes cannot celebrate, as they can't pass the buck. 

 No other reward makes sense. Celebration is not being paid for a job well done. Hence, it can't be anything they worked for. It can't be anything they truly deserve. If it's something that makes them healthier, either it's worth doing and you do it ASAP, you don't hold it back, or it's not worth doing and you spend the money on something else.
