on the bright side, it's basically dunking on bad stuff
on the dark side, it says democracy good
on the real side, california rejected gay marriage (and quite a lot of other things) at the ballot box and what is california's reputation?
California tells us everything we need to know about Demoncracy.
The People vote, the elites ignore it, then The People consent to what they didn't vote for.
I read this as Demoncracy supplying demand for getting oppressed. They wanted their votes to be ignored, which is why they accepted the outcome.
