Socrates was a hero, but it's important to remember that if true saints or whatever exist, you'll never hear about them.
Achilles was a real pain in the neck for Agamemnon, and likewise any real hero makes Caesar and all the other politician look bad. They're deliberately suppressed, for this and many other reasons.
