There is tremendous demand for saying what they want to hear. They absolutely love hearing it, seemingly never getting bored of it.
There is no demand for saying what they need to hear. Thus it will not be said, and will not be heard, and what is needed will not occur.
I do enjoy the many valid readings of that line.
ReplyDeleteMissing one though: in fact Gotham doesn't deserve a hero. Everyone would be better off if it was destroyed, instead of saved. Bane, Gotham's villain, would have been the world's hero.
What is falling should be pushed. Better it was a warning to others than an inspiring tale of the rewards of laziness and irresponsibility.
